Cecil and Ron Bridgewater at Boomers, NY @ 1972
Cecil has written for every size of group possible - from Big Band to trio to Jazz Philharmonic.
He has written for the big band of Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, Count Basie and others. His arrangements for Dee Dee Bridgewater were featured on two of her CD's and many of her performances. Arranging for singers is a specialty of Cecil's that allows him to have his arrangements in the books of the late Lena Horne, Vanessa Rubin and many other singers.
He has many arrangements for Big Band and Small Groups that can be found all around the globe.
His composition for Jazz Philharmonic, "New Dawn", is a combination of his trips to Senegal and later to Brazil and trying to capture the experince of those journeys. It is a work that will never be finished because it is still evolving.
